Sand at Wool & Dorchester

The sand train runs usually on Mondays and Wednesdays. It passes Wareham at about 8 AM goes to Dorchester, turns around then goes to wool to collect its sand delivered by a local transportation firm.

The train goes back up line at about 1PM. On this page I will explain the process at Dorchester South.

The train off loads some wagons so that the rest of the train can fit into the platform.

The train then pulls into Dorchester south. This is where the turning around process starts.

The freight engine then goes down to Dorchester Junction to get onto the UP line.

The Engine then passes back thought the station.

The train then picks the previously off-loaded wagons from the sidings.
