Classes Of Train
Class 33
|
Class 33 from a view; “Stan Symes”. These
locomotives were built at the same time as the Class 421 EMUs.
They were comissoned by the former BR, in 1959 as
multi traffic locos (passenger hauling & freight). They are equipped with
three electrical generators and turbos |
among other devices. Amazingly their maximum speed is
85 mph, quite something considering that many of the steam trains were dorfling around at about 50mph. At Swanage I’m sute that it will never reach that speed, optium |

line speed being around 25mph. (Information found
from watching a speedo in a DMU cab) |
